About the Company 

Blykalla is a Sweden-based company developing next gen nuclear – an advanced lead cooled SMR. Built on 30 years of research, they are now building a test reactor to then build their first nuclear reactor in Sweden in the early 2030s. Given the favorable policy development in the US, they are now exploring whether they should build their first nuclear reactor in the US and then expand more broadly in the US. Blykalla just announced a partnership with a leading US player Oklo, who also co-invested in their last round. They are looking to raise a Series B round in early 2026.

About the Solution

Blykalla develops small modular reactors – small reactors that can be produced in a factory and shipped on a truck. This enables significantly lower cost and quicker delivery time compared to large-scale, site-built nuclear plants. Blykalla uses lead as a coolant, which has many inherent safety properties such as strong radiation shield. Thus, their technology brings passive safety in the smallest form and can be placed next to industrial facilities such as a data center. On top of this, their technology is very efficient in its fuel use and creates less radioactive waste than conventional technology.
