IncentiFind embodies the saying “necessity is the mother of invention”—in fact, its founder didn’t even intend to begin a startup.
Natalie Campos Goodman, a self-described “green building nerd” with a background in sustainable architecture, found it extremely challenging to identify different states and municipalities’ green building incentives and eligibility requirements. She set out to create a better solution herself, thinking, “How hard could that be?”
It took a year. That journey turned into IncentiFind, a Greentown Houston startup that offers a searchable database of green building incentives from all levels of the U.S. government. It gives property developers, owners, and tenants a comprehensive report of incentives they’re eligible for and helps them apply.
“You just have to put in a property’s address and we can list all these amazing green incentives,” Goodman says. “We make this data accessible to help combat climate change and put money back in the pockets of property owners and tenants.”
Let’s look at some case studies. With IncentiFind’s help, a Texas developer leveraged solar panels, water conservation products, and more to save $510K on its project. An industrial facility in Wisconsin, meanwhile, saved $521K in incentives based on elements such as energy efficiency and EV equipment.
In fact, IncentiFind helped Greentown Labs access green building incentives when we were renovating a building for our Greentown Houston incubator. Now a member of that incubator, “Finally we have a group we fit in with,” Goodman says.
Over the next six months, Goodman plans to raise IncentiFind’s Series A, grow its team (currently 25 full-time and part-time employees), and begin expanding its database to Canada. The startup will also launch its remaining products, designed to integrate with property tech companies’ existing softwares.
