Emerson is a global technology and software company providing innovative solutions for the world’s essential industries. Through its leading automation portfolio, including its majority stake in AspenTech, Emerson helps hybrid, process and discrete manufacturers optimize operations, protect personnel, reduce emissions and achieve their sustainability goals.
Emerson created a framework to advance its environmental sustainability efforts across three broad pillars: Greening Of Emerson, Greening By Emerson and Greening With Emerson.
- Greening Of Emerson focuses on how Emerson improves its internal environmental sustainability performance in pursuit of meeting ambitious targets on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, energy and water consumption, and waste reduction. Emerson plans to reach net zero across its own operations for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions and drive a 25% reduction in its Scope 3 value chain emissions compared to a 2021 baseline.
- Greening By guides how Emerson supports and enables customer decarbonization and environmental sustainability efforts by implementing Emerson technologies, solutions and expertise.
- Greening With signifies how Emerson fosters collaboration among stakeholders by participating in leading sustainability industry forums, partnering with academic institutions to drive sustainable innovation, and engaging with governments globally to support sustainability-related policies and regulations.
The Terrawatt Partnership with Greentown Labs aligns with Emerson’s Greening By and Greening With initiatives by identifying climatetech innovations that will help advance industry sustainability programs and working hand-in-hand with other multinational corporations and cleantech startups to tackle climate change.
The partnership with Greentown Labs also complements Emerson’s culture of innovation. For more than 130 years, innovation has been a defining characteristic of Emerson as the company helps identify, develop and deliver industry-leading technologies and products that have forever changed manufacturing.
Emerson’s culture of innovation not only includes collaborating and organically developing technologies that solve customers’ most challenging problems, but also seeking and scaling great innovations from start-ups and other companies.
Emerson’s partnership with Greentown Labs aligns with the company’s drive to accelerate innovation by providing early access to cutting-edge to environmentally sustainable technologies. In 2021, Emerson announced a $100 million commitment to Emerson Ventures, its corporate venture capital initiative. Emerson is committed to supporting and mentoring early-stage startups to gain insights on emerging technologies, adjacent markets and industry disruptors.
