Global startup incubator and seed fund 1776 and local new product showcase Mass Innovation Nights are bringing the 2016 Challenge Cup to Boston next Tuesday, January 26, and we’re excited to host the event at our space in Somerville!
The global startup competition is designed to identify and support startups focused on solving the world’s most fundamental challenges in sectors such as: civic tech, education, energy, food, health, money, security or transportation.
Winners of the Boston competition will advance to the regional competition in New York in March 2016. Regional winners will move on to the global finals in Washington, D.C. in June 2016, where they can win $175,000 in cash and more than $1 million in potential investments.
Startups can apply online. In order to compete, they should be a for-profit businesses in the sectors the Challenge Cup focuses on, with less than $2.5 million in funding and less than $2.5 million in revenue. Applicants must have a scalable product or service that has achieved in-market traction.
