About the Solution

Solas Capture is developing a proprietary light-driven separation platform that uses photoresponsive polymers to selectively bind and release critical mineral ions via photoirradiation. By replacing bulk chemical dosing with reversible photochemical switching, the platform dramatically reduces reagent consumption, waste generation, and infrastructure complexity compared to conventional solvent extraction. The technology is initially being developed for rare earth element separation and lithium brine upgrading, with future applications across broader critical mineral and battery material supply chains.
