About the Company
Achieving net-negative emissions requires both avoiding and removing billions of tons of CO2 every year. This enormous challenge must be tackled by developing innovative technological systems that can physically separate the CO2 molecules from other gases, and deploying large-scale projects capable of doing so.
Repair Carbon harnesses the power of validated technologies to accelerate their path to market. By utilizing abundant materials like mass-produced nickel electrodes, they enhance both the reliability and scalability of their solutions. RepAir’s approach also includes substituting traditional metal components with injection-molded, recycled polymers, a strategy that reduces weight and costs while streamlining assembly.
About the Solution
RepAir Carbon’s direct air capture solution operates on a novel electrochemical process much like battery technology. It uses two electrodes placed on either side of a selected operator. An electrical current is applied generating hydroxide ions which bind onto CO2 molecules to form new molecules. These molecules then cross the separator and unbind the new molecules consuming the hydroxides and releasing clean air back to the atmosphere while pure CO2 gas is drawn out.
