Funding
- Highland Park Technologies was awarded $700k from MassTech’s Manufacturing Innovation Initiative to build an in-house manufacturing line producing 2,000 square feet of insulated cladding per day for low-rise residential buildings, in partnership with FORGE.
- Harmony Desalting received a $270k grant from the New Mexico Environment Department to develop high-recovery groundwater desalination for livestock.
- Transaera received a $125k grant from The Clean Fight’s National Deployment Grant Fund to deploy its high-efficiency heat pump and dehumidification system at a multifamily building in Washington, D.C.
- Greentown alum Fervo Energy, a next-generation geothermal power developer delivering 24/7 carbon-free energy, raised $1.9B in its upsized IPO, selling 70 million shares at $27.
- Greentown alum Moment Energy closed a $40M Series B to build the world’s largest second-life battery factory, repurposing retired EV batteries into stationary energy storage systems.
Partnerships + Deployments
- Transaera signed a multi-year commercial agreement with Amazon to integrate its rooftop cooling and dehumidification system into Amazon’s commercial facilities, following a successful six-month field trial at an Amazon logistics facility in Houston.
- Nth Cycle, a metal processing technology company recovering production-grade critical minerals from e-waste, low-grade ore, and mine tailings, signed a joint development and licensing agreement with Ionic Rare Earths to establish end-to-end rare earth refining operations in the U.S. and globally.
- WhaleSpotter, which uses thermal imaging and AI to prevent marine mammal strikes at sea, was deployed by the City of San Francisco to reduce ship-strike fatalities for gray whales in the Bay Area.
- Harmony Desalting announced four industry partners — Protec-Arisawa, DuPont, Danfoss, and Aqua Membranes — to support testing of its 100 tons/day seawater desalter at the Dhekelia Desalination Plant in Cyprus.
- Greentown alum Caravel Bio, which uses microbial spores and enzymes to create durable industrial biocatalysts, was selected for Shell’s GameChanger program to test its protein engineering technology for lower-cost, more efficient carbon capture.
Awards + Recognition
- Oxylus Energy, Torres Orbital Mining, and Active Surfaces, alongside alum C16 Biosciences, were named to Hello Tomorrow’s list of the Top 100 Deep Tech Startups to Watch in 2026.
- Helix Earth Technologies received the Small Business Innovator Award at the inaugural Texas Innovation Conference & Awards for its retrofit dehumidification system, which bolts onto existing commercial air conditioners to remove moisture before it reaches the HVAC equipment.
- Harmony Desalting advanced to the semifinals of the $119M XPRIZE Water Scarcity competition, one of only two teams to advance in both Track A (System-Level Innovation) and Track B (Novel Materials & Methods).
- Helix Earth Technologies and Elementium Materials were recognized on Trellis’ list of 15 Climatetech Startups to Watch in 2026.
- Overstory, which uses AI and satellite imagery to monitor vegetation risk to power lines, was named to TIME’s list of the 10 Most Influential Sustainability Companies of 2026.
- Resollant, Highland Park Technologies, and Orien Energy were selected for ClimaTech’s Cohort 6.
- Solidec and Janta Power were selected for Third Derivative’s latest 26-startup climate cohort focused on hard tech and deployment.
- Greentown alum it’s electric, a curbside EV-charging solution that draws spare electrical supply from adjacent buildings, won the City of Boston’s Climate Award and was recognized by Mayor Michelle Wu for its groundbreaking approach to urban EV charging.
- Greentown alum Dioxycle, which develops electrolyzer technology to convert CO2 emissions into ethylene and other chemicals, was named a finalist in Fluor’s CCU and SAF Pitch Competition.
- Greentown alumni Via Separations and Hertha Metals were named to Inc’s list of 17 Startups Rebuilding America in 2026.
