Funding
- Carbon to Value Initiative Year 5 cohort member Sora Fuel closed a $14.6M round to convert captured carbon into syngas to produce sustainable aviation fuel.
- Helix Earth Technologies closed a $12M Seed 2 round for commercial deployment of retrofitted HVAC systems that improve humidity, ventilation, and energy efficiency.
- Monaire raised $4M to accelerate the development of its automated energy-efficient commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Oxylus Energy received a $2.9M ARPA-E grant to build an AI-accelerated workflow to discover electrocatalysts for converting CO2 to syngas and methanol.
- NOC Energy raised a $2.7M seed round for its technology that converts power into thermal energy and integrates into existing fossil fuel-fired infrastructure.
- Greentown alum Via Separations, a developer of industrial filters for more efficient chemical production, raised $36M in “pre-growth” funding.
Partnerships + Deployments
- Reframe Systems, a physical AI company innovating homebuilding with robotic microfactories, deployed a 554-square-foot unit in Woburn, MA.
- Dottir Labs, a startup developing real-time chemical monitoring systems using scalable sensor networks, deployed its first pilot at the University of Rhode Island.
- Boxes announced a partnership with L’Oréal to launch retail devices that provide product samples and engagement experiences while collecting consumer preference insights.
- Greentown alum Fervo Energy, a next-generation geothermal power developer delivering 24/7 carbon-free energy, announced two partnerships:
- A three-year framework agreement with Turboden America LLC to supply Organic Rankine cycle units for up to 35 GeoBlocks (1.75 GW of capacity).
- A five-year supply agreement with Vallourec to support the scaled deployment of geothermal energy across the United States.
- Greentown alum Cyvl announced three deployments of its infrastructure intelligence platform, leveraging 3D mapping sensors and AI to improve asset management:
- Launched askboston.ai, a new tool in partnership with the City of Boston, to publicize streets’ infrastructure data
- Partnered with the City of Buffalo to deploy technology for automated roadway and sidewalk assessment
- Deployed in the City of Niagara Falls in Ontario, its first deployment in Canada
Awards + Recognition
- QEA Tech’s data-driven building envelope audits using patented AI software, drones, and thermography won Tomorrow.City USA’s pitch competition.
- Greentown members and alumni were named on the TIME list of America’s Top 250 GreenTech Companies of 2026:
- Greentown alum Fervo Energy was ranked first for its geothermal power technology, delivering carbon-free energy
- Additional Greentown members recognized:
- Form Energy, developer of an innovative iron-air long-duration battery
- Sublime Systems, whose technology decarbonizes cement-making and reduces cement kiln emissions
- Advanced Ionics, which is creating new electrolyzer technology to enable decarbonized green hydrogen production
- Phoenix Tailings, creator of the first fully clean mining and rare metals production technologies
- Additional Greentown alumni recognized:
- SparkCharge, manufacturer of efficient, portable, and modular charging stations for electric vehicles
- Capture6, which uses salt water to remove atmospheric carbon while producing clean freshwater
- Amogy, which is decarbonizing commercial transportation with a portable carbon-free energy system using ammonia as a renewable fuel
- Ebb Carbon, developer of a system using low-carbon electricity and membranes to convert atmospheric carbon to oceanic bicarbonate
- Ohmium International, a company providing electrochemical products to enable the deployment of green hydrogen
- Kula Bio, which is creating organic biofertilizers by supercharging natural microbes with renewable energy
- Three Greentown members were recognized at the 2026 Edison Awards:
- Laminar won gold in Optimized Industrial Process control for its data-driven IoT platform that optimizes industrial liquid and fluid systems.
- Cyvl won Silver in Resilient Public Infrastructure for its 3D mapping and AI-powered infrastructure intelligence and asset management platform.
- Adept Materials won Silver in Intelligent Painting Systems for its multifunctional building material technology, improving moisture regulation and energy efficiency.
