Funding
- Phoenix Tailings—a startup pioneering the sustainable production of rare-earth metals that’s waste-free, net-zero, and cost-competitive with current methods—raised $33M in Series B extension funding.
- RepAir Carbon, which is developing efficient, scalable, and affordable carbon capture designed for the gigaton scale, raised $15M in Series A extension funding.
- Haffner Energy, producer of renewable energy via waste-biomass thermolysis, announced a €7M capital increase “through ABSA issuance with preferential subscription rights.”
- Spare-it, which specializes in in-building waste metering, raised $4M in funding.
- EVident Battery closed a $3.2M seed round for its battery-pack-inspection tech.
- Active Surfaces was awarded a $200k grant from MassTech’s Massachusetts Manufacturing Accelerate Program to support its ultra-thin-film solar technology, and Greentown alumni Folia Materials and Osmoses were awarded $75k and $200k, respectively.
- Greentown alum Electra raised $186M of a Series B to build a demonstration plant for its low-carbon iron.
- Greentown Go alum Circularise received a grant from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to expand its role in Japan. It officially launched Circularise Japan K.K. and opened a local office in Tokyo.
Partnerships + Deployments
- Dandelion Energy will integrate its geothermal systems into over 1,500 homes built by Lennar Corporation in Colorado, in one of the United States’s largest residential geothermal deployments.
- Elementium Materials announced a collaboration with NEO Battery Materials to apply its advanced electrolytes to NEO’s platform.
- American Battery Technology Company doubled its quarterly production of recycled battery materials at its commercial-scale lithium-ion battery recycling facility and completed another lithium-drill program.
- Haffner Energy announced its Hynoca® Flex 500 IG, “a line of hydrogen production units capable of producing 12 tonnes of green hydrogen per day to be delivered under €3/kg without subsidies.”
- Phase Two Chemicals installed a major hydrogen-peroxide electrolytic-generation system at the Domtar paper mill in British Columbia.
- it’s electric installed San Francisco’s first-ever curbside EV chargers.
- Mars Materials shipped its first customer-spec sample of sustainable acrylonitrile from its pilot plant.
- Greentown alum Fervo Energy signed a 15-year power purchase agreement for 31 MW of 24/7 carbon-free geothermal power with Greentown partner Shell.
- Greentown alum SparkCharge was chosen as the EV-charging partner for the 2025 Masters Tournament.
- Greentown Go alum Circularise announced a partnership with Dutch Formula 2 driver Richard Verschoor for the 2025 FIA Formula 2 Championship Season. It also launched digital product passports for Teijin Limited’s advanced aramid and carbon-fibre materials and is collaborating with Samsonite to launch two circular luggage collections.
- Greentown alum SiTration, developer of a novel membrane-filtration technology, opened its pilot and R&D facility in Watertown, MA.
- Greentown Go alum Open Ocean Robotics is leading a $3.8M Air Sea Ocean Monitoring System project to address “essential gaps in observation capabilities vital for the long-term monitoring of marine protected areas, environmental surveillance for offshore energy installations, and maritime domain awareness.” One of its uncrewed surface vehicles was also recently acquired by the Ocean Frontier Institute.
- Greentown alum Rheom Materials featured its almost fully bio-based leather in “western-inspired” outfits at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

- BlueShift won the 2025 Massachusetts Climate Innovation of the Year Award from Leading Cities, in partnership with the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center.
- American Battery Technology Company was named the “Recycling Technology Solution of the Year” by CleanTech Breakthrough.
- Active Surfaces, developer of an ultra-thin-film solar technology, took home gold at the Edison Awards.
- Mars Materials‘s CEO Aaron Fitzgerald was named a 2025 Lewis Latimer Fellow.
- MacroCycle won the SF Regionals at the Startup World Cup Pitch Competition at SF Climate Week.
- it’s electric, whose Level-2 EV-charging posts connect behind-the-meter to draw spare electrical supply from adjacent buildings, joined Mastercard’s Start Path Emerging Fintech program.
- Agrilab Technologies, Allkemie, FAST Metals, and NeuroBionics won audience-voted pitch awards at Greentown Boston’s New Member Spotlight EnergyBar.
- Carbon to Value Initiative alum Planetary won the $1M XFACTOR Ocean award from XPRIZE Carbon Removal, which is part of the initiative’s Carbontech Leadership Council.
- Greentown alum GreenLIB, which is recycling lithium-ion batteries with water leaching and electrowinning separation, won $152k at the Rice Business Plan Competition.
- Greentown alum C16 Biosciences was named one of “9 Food Tech Companies to Watch” by Inc.
