FUNDING
- rStream received a $1.25M grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to continue its work developing an artificial intelligence program to sort discarded materials.
- Aeromine received a $1.1M grant from the Danish Energy Agency’s Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Program to test its bladeless wind-harvesting tech.
- Sublime Systems was approved for five-year tax increment financing valued at $351K by the City of Holyoke, MA, and the state Economic Assistance Coordinating Council approved tax credits of $1M+ for the startup to open a low-carbon cement plant that would bring about 70 jobs to the region.
PARTNERSHIPS + DEPLOYMENTS
- Fervo Energy and Google’s next-generation, 3.5-MW geothermal plant, called Project Red, began supplying carbon-free electricity in Las Vegas.
- Alloy Enterprises launched a new aluminum cold plate component that aids in emissions reduction through new heat-reducing technology.
- AmpUp will partner with Leviton to integrate AmpUp’s charging-management software into its new EV-charging station.
- Energy Toolbase announced the expansion of its software offerings to solar-only monitoring, creating an end-to-end solution for solar energy project development, proposal generation, and monitoring.
- InventWood, a Greentown Go alum that is an innovator in sustainable construction with its solution called MettleWood, is building a new pilot manufacturing and R&D facility in Maryland.
- MITO Material Solutions, a Greentown Go alum whose unique platform technology functionalizes hybrid additives—solving some of the manufacturing industry’s most common challenges—announced a partnership with St. Croix Rod, a fishing pole manufacturer.
AWARDS + RECOGNITION
- Active Surface’s Shiv Bhakta, Allium Engineering’s Steven Jepeal and Samuel McAlpine, Conduit Tech’s Marisa Reddy, Osmoses’ Katherine Mizrahi Rodriguez, and TerraFixing’s Vida Gabriel were named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 North America list.
- Form Energy co-founders Mateo Jaramillo and Yet-Ming Chiang (the latter of which is also a co-founder of Greentown alum Sublime Systems) and Carbon to Value Initiative alum Carbfix’s Edda Sif Pind Aradóttir were named to TIME’s list of 100 Most Influential Climate Leaders in Business for 2023.
- rStream won the Greentech Eddie and the Overall Ecosystem Choice Award from the Eddies Program hosted by the Massachusetts Innovation Network.
- Active Surfaces was named a U.S. National Runner-up for Cleantech Open 2023 and also won the National People’s Choice Award.
- ALLY Energy, Fervo Energy, and Syzygy Plasmonics were all named winners of the 2023 Houston Innovation Awards.
- Kanin Energy was named to Foresight Canada’s 2023 Foresight 50 list, which highlights Canada’s most investable cleantech ventures.
- Sublime Systems won the Emerging Company of the Year award at NECEC’s 14th annual Green Future Gala. Sublime Systems also received a life cycle assessment from Climate Earth, an assessor of environmental product declarations in the concrete industry, validating that its cement manufacturing process enables a 90% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
