Funding
- Sublime Systems was allocated up to $47M in an investment tax credit to support the development of its low-carbon-cement factory in Holyoke, MA.
- Phoenix Tailings, which extracts valuable metals and rare earth elements from mining waste using clean energy, closed a $43.8M Series B.
- Advanced Ionics, the developer of a new class of green-hydrogen electrolyzers aimed at accelerating decarbonization, raised $6.7M from strategic investors including Greentown partner Clean Energy Venture Group.
- XTPL raised €6.5M in a Series X share offering for its additive-manufacturing technology for ultra-precise printing of nanomaterials.
- it’s electric received three “Communities Taking Charge” funding awards from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) with a variety of partners, totaling $6.2M. The startup is already active in Boston and is seeking partnerships with local building owners.
- Tender, the creator of alternative meat products that have the same texture, taste, and consistency as real meat, received $5.4M in funding from the DOE.
- NeuroBionics closed a $5M seed round for its endovascular neuromodulation technology, which reduces greenhouse-gas emissions by avoiding resource-intensive manufacturing processes, eliminating the need for clean rooms, avoiding harsh chemicals, and reducing the use of potent greenhouse gases for anesthesia.
- Titan Advanced Energy Solutions, which offers high-resolution battery inspections, received $2.6M from the DOE.
- Greentown members and alumni Form Energy, Osmoses, and Syzygy Plasmonics were selected for ARPA-E’s Vision OPEN 2024 projects, receiving awards of $3.5M, $5.2M, and $2.5M, respectively.
- Greentown member florrent and alum Fleet Robotics received $402k and $365k, respectively, from the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative’s Center for Advanced Manufacturing.
- Greentown member Mars Materials and Carbon to Value Initiative (C2V Initiative) alum Mitico were awarded grants by Columbia Technology Ventures’s Carbontech Development Initiative.
- Greentown alum Amogy raised $56M for its ammonia-to-power technology, including from the investment arms of Greentown partners Aramco and BHP.
- Greentown alum Moment Energy raised a $15M Series A, co-led by Greentown partner Amazon’s Climate Pledge Fund. The funding will support the startup’s plans to build “the world’s first gigafactory” for repurposing EV batteries.
- Greentown alum Kuva Systems, which provides solutions for methane-emission reduction, was awarded a $5M DOE contract.
- Greentown alum WeaveGrid received an investment from Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation. WeaveGrid’s technology leverages embedded vehicle telematics—data, controls, and communication systems—and charging equipment to transform unpredictable and disaggregated EV charging loads into a cohesive network of controllable grid resources.
Partnerships + Deployments
- Thiozen signed a conditional commercial agreement with a midstream customer to install its first commercial unit at the customer’s Alberta sour-gas plant. This project is backed by a $3.2M award Thiozen received from Emission Reduction Alberta last year.
- AmpUp, developer of a reliable, flexible, and user-friendly EV-charging platform, is partnering with Hubject. AmpUp will integrate Hubject’s Plug&Charge tech into its charging stations, and Hubject will incorporate AmpUp’s charging stations into its eRoaming network.
- Lydian completed a successful pilot demonstration of its sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) tech. Its pilot plant is capable of producing 25 gallons of SAF per day.
- XTPL announced a partnership with a “leading Chinese display manufacturer,” the first industrial order of its nanoprinting tech.
- Cemvita signed an MOU with Be8 to “develop the conversion of glycerin into a low-carbon feedstock” for sustainable aviation fuel.
- Haffner Energy announced a collaboration with LanzaJet and LanzaTech to explore joint projects across the biomass-to-SAF value chain.
- Spare-it launched a new version of its waste-intelligence platform.
- Greentown alum LineVision partnered with Georgia’s largest electric utility, Georgia Power, to deploy its dynamic line-ratings technology.
- Greentown alum Syzygy Plasmonics successfully completed a trial with Lotte Chemical of what it says is “the world’s largest all-electric ammonia-cracking system.”
- Greentown alum Rheom Materials—which pioneers the use of biopolymers derived from plant-based matter for new applications across the fashion, home goods, electronic, and automotive sectors—announced a strategic partnership with Bixby International.
Expansions
- Cemvita, whose engineered microbes transform CO2 and other wastes into valuable compounds, established a subsidiary in Brazil.

- Greentown alum Zero Homes received Manual J approval from the Air Conditioning Contractors of America, allowing its digital-design platform to complete the Manual J calculations without requiring a technician to conduct an in-person evaluation.
- Greentown alum Fervo Energy was named Cleantech Group’s North American Company of the Year.
- C2V Initiative alum Mitico was selected for Halliburton Labs’s latest cohort.
