July 21, 2014, Somerville, Mass. – Last week, Greentown Labs was thrilled and honored to learn our Executive Director and CEO, Emily Reichert, has been named an Emerging Executive Finalist in the 2014 Mass Technology Leadership Council (MassTLC) Technology Leadership Awards. Greentown Labs is an incubator space for clean technology hardware startup companies in need of resources, space, and connections to potential sponsors in order to launch their products. Greentown Labs’ mission is to enable entrepreneurs to solve the planet’s most intimidating energy and environmental challenges, and does so by expanding an ecosystem in which startups can grow and thrive quickly, can connect with potential investors, and can benefit from each other’s expertise. The vibrant and buzzing community of talent that is so unique to Greentown Labs is in large part due to the planning, management, and creativity with which Emily steers the company forward.
“I’m honored to be part of a great group of finalists for Emerging Executive of the Year. Most of all, I’m pleased that the MassTLC is recognizing Greentown Labs’ efforts to help clean energy entrepreneurs grow their startups,” said Emily Reichert, CEO and Executive Director, Greentown Labs.
In the past year, it was Emily’s precise and thoughtful planning which facilitated the successful move of 25 companies from our old location in South Boston to our new Somerville facility. Since being named Executive Director, she has grown the Greentown team from one member to eight, brought on three external stakeholders to the Executive Board, and has expanded our member base from 25 to 46 companies. She has initiated and continues to spearhead programs that encourage local manufacturers and strategic investors to engage with the growing clean tech industry in the region, and is constantly envisioning new ways for Greentown Labs to increase its impact on the clean tech scene.
MassTLC unveiled the finalists for the 17th Annual Awards on July 15 during a cocktail reception hosted at the Microsoft NERD Center. The reception brought together hundreds of executives, technologists, investors, media, analysts and other members of the Massachusetts innovation ecosystem, and this year’s award nominees represent the best of the region’s tech industry in sixteen categories.
