Climatetech Summit

This is the decade for bold climate action

Join us for the first-ever Greentown Labs Climatetech Summit on Nov. 5 and 6 for a deep dive into scaling climate action!

During these two days, you’ll engage across what we see as the pillars of climate action—technology, finance, policy, and justice—discover groundbreaking startups and their climatetech solutions, learn from industry experts, and forge the connections you need in order to take meaningful action on climate.

This collaborative, virtual summit will bring together entrepreneurs, investors, business leaders, policymakers, startup support organizations, and other climate champions to chart a holistic approach to building a sustainable future for all.

Together, we can power the climatetech revolution.

Investing in the Climatetech Revolution

November 5 | 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. ET

Climatetech is here, and it’s more than a buzzword—it’s our future. The first day of the Climatetech Summit will dig into the capital, energy, resources, and equity work we must invest to help this wave of technology reach its full potential.

Meaningful climate action can create our best possible future—one where we all benefit from a sustainable, healthy climate and have equitable access to the amazing opportunities this transition offers. If we are to make this vision a reality, it is crucial that we develop, fund, and scale solutions to long-standing climate injustices. This panel will explore those solutions, zeroing in on the technology, policies, and investments we need to help us ensure the coming energy transition is a just transition.

Greentown Labs is home to about 100 climatetech companies committed to solving the climate crisis through collaboration and entrepreneurship. Lightning pitch sessions will feature interactive, one-minute elevator pitches from many of these industry-leading climatetech startups, followed by live audience voting.

Scaling climatetech innovations requires financing. As society deploys more sustainable alternatives—for everything from generating and consuming energy, to moving people and goods, to developing and managing the buildings we live in—there are increasing opportunities for financial gain and for entrepreneurs to access new forms of capital. This panel will explore the diverse capital sources that are key to tackling climate change; how and why financial institutions and private equity firms can get into the climatetech space—and what’s held them back in the past; and the vast opportunities for people, planet, and profit inherent in climatetech investing.

Building a Coalition of Climate Champions

November 6 | 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. ET

Day two of the Climatetech Summit will start off with an interactive showcase of Greentown members, whose technologies are the core of our sustainable future. Join us to meet the entrepreneurs who are changing the world, then tune into a climate policy panel and a speaking program that will chart our path forward.

The Greentown Labs Climatetech Startup Showcase is your chance to meet the entrepreneurs who are changing the world. This interactive, virtual showcase will give you a chance to step up to Greentown members’ booths to hear from the founders, learn about their climate solutions, and make valuable connections. The showcase will highlight climatetech companies innovating across the key carbon-emitting sectors—electricity, agtech and water, buildings, manufacturing, and transportation—and on platform solutions.

The Greentown Labs Climatetech Summit will occur just days after the U.S. election. The outcome may or may not issue in a new era of U.S. climate leadership, and we may not know the answer by Nov. 6. With this uncertainty, Greentown has invited a panel of experts to weigh in on how we can power climate action at scale in either scenario. What is in store in a Biden/Harris administration? How will the industry, states, and cities push forward with meaningful climate solutions if President Trump is re-elected? Join us for a real-time, up-to-the-minute analysis of climate policy for 2020 and beyond.

The keynote speaking program will tie together the themes, ideas, and opportunities for action identified throughout the Climatetech Summit, crafting a multi-stakeholder, holistic approach to scaling climate action together. Join us for a program featuring the following keynote speakers, who represent the public sector, the private sector, and non-governmental organizations:

  • Gina McCarthy, CEO of the Natural Resources Defense Council + former Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
  • Marc Engel, Chief Supply Chain Officer at Unilever
  • Joseph A. Curtatone, Mayor of Somerville, MA, home of Greentown’s headquarters
  • Kathleen A. Theoharides, Secretary of Massachusetts’ Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs

Stay tuned for additional information on speakers, event timing, and more!
