Battery Lab

A New Home for Energy-Storage Innovators

Introducing a new lab for battery R&D, testing, and pilot manufacturing in Massachusetts, in collaboration with The Battery Guild

Greentown received a MassCEC Climatetech Testing and Demonstration Assets (TDA) Program award to support a new R&D, testing, and pilot manufacturing lab dedicated to emerging energy storage technologies—cementing Massachusetts as a central hub for battery innovation.

Massachusetts is a global leader in battery research and early-stage energy-storage innovation, yet startups and corporate R&D teams routinely send critical pilot work out of state—slowing commercialization, increasing costs, and exporting jobs, IP, and supplier spend.

This new lab, supported by this funding from the Mass Leads Act, will bridge the “missing middle” between bench-top R&D and commercial manufacturing while keeping founders, IP, and investment right here in the Commonwealth.
