Our Mission is Still Critical and We Remain Committed

A Letter Sent to our Community on November 9, 2016:

Dear Members, Sponsors and Friends of Greentown Labs,

I write today in regard to the surprising results of yesterday’s election.

In 2011, Greentown Labs launched as a community-supported co-working space for cleantech hardware startups. The United States was still reeling from the worst recession in a generation and expectations for success were measured at best.

Today, five years later, Greentown Labs is the largest cleantech hardware incubator in the United States, having supported more than 100 companies in that timeframe and currently home to more than 50. These companies have created more than 500 jobs and have raised nearly $200M to support the growth of their businesses, and their dreams. They are developing technologies that improve and clean the environment, create jobs and act as a vehicle for economic development for our community, the Commonwealth and our country.

Even though as a nation there may be some uncertainty in the path ahead, Greentown Labs is confident that our member companies of today and of tomorrow will continue to push us all forward to create a better, brighter and cleaner energy future.

So let’s not allow this election to further divide us. Let’s use it as a rallying point.

It’s time for the broader cleantech community to join forces, show our resiliency and connect to better understand how we can all work together to identify a path forward. We will need many voices and new ideas. We ask all of you who share this vision to get involved, stay engaged and remain enthusiastic as we commit our leadership to this great global challenge.

Of course, as entrepreneurs, we face challenges and overcome obstacles every day. It’s what we do. And it’s what we will continue to do.

We look forward to continuing to work with all of you in pursuit of our collective, critical mission to bring clean technology to the world.

Onward and Upward,

Emily and the Greentown Labs Team
