About the Company
Maple Materials has developed a low-cost electrolysis process to convert carbon dioxide into graphite and oxygen. Graphite is the most widely used anode material for lithium-ion batteries. However, natural graphite resources in the US and EU are virtually non- existent and state-of-the-art graphite produced from petroleum needle coke is expensive and carbon-intensive.
About the Solution
Maple Materials synthesizes graphite through the electrolysis of molten salt carbonate. The reaction produces graphite, which can be further refined for anodic materials or traditional graphite applications.
