Jason Hanna is co-founder of Greentown Labs, North America’s largest climate tech startup incubator. He served as its first Managing Director from 2011-2013 and was appointed Interim CEO by the incubator’s Board of Directors in from June-September 2023. He is a 2x startup founder with significant clean energy and climate expertise, and more than a decade’s worth of growth-stage product and team management.
Prior to his role as Interim CEO, Jason served as Director of Product Management at Starry, a fixed wireless internet service provider. Jason built Starry’s product team from Series A leading up to its public offering in 2022. Previously, he served as Director of Software Products for Digital Lumens (now part of Siteworx Software), a provider of intelligent LED lighting and facility insights solutions.
Jason’s deep entrepreneurial leadership is rooted in his time founding Embue where he served as CEO until 2015. Embue is a cloud-based platform for connected devices serving multifamily property managers.
During his time leading Embue, Jason founded Greentown Labs to provide lab space, services, and community for early-stage companies developing renewable and climate technologies. He grew the organization through its first two years, expanding to 25+ member companies and establishing Greentown as a globally recognized entity.
Jason received his BS in Computer Engineering from Iowa State University. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with family, crashing mountain bikes, and DIY renovation projects.
