Funding
- Transaera, a startup pioneering a novel, energy-efficient approach to cooling and dehumidification, raised an $8.2M Seed-2 round led by Greentown partner Clean Energy Ventures, augmented by $2.3M in grants from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).
- Helix Earth Technologies, which is revolutionizing air conditioning and carbon capture and sequestration with cutting-edge tech developed at NASA, closed a $5.6M seed round.
- Advanced Ionics announced an investment from Lummus Technology that involves a partnership to advance the startup’s green-hydrogen platform.
- Elementium Materials, which makes more powerful, longer-lasting batteries with its novelty electrolyte technology, received a DOE voucher to work with the Center for Automotive Research at Ohio State University.
- Greentown alum Embr Labs raised $3M in funding for its wearable thermal technology.
Partnerships + Deployments
- Phytoform Labs announced a new tomato variety optimized for vertical farms that’s one-sixth the size of a traditional tomato plant and yields five times the amount of produce.
- Haffner Energy launched its hydrogen production, testing, and training center in Champagne, France.
- Greentown alum Ebb Carbon signed a marine-CO2-removal deal with Microsoft that commissions the removal of 350,000 tonnes of CO2 over 10 years.
- Greentown alum Skytree will deploy its carbon-removal technology at the world’s first fully wind-powered direct air capture (DAC) hub in Tom Green County, Texas.
- Greentown Go alum Open Ocean Robotics completed a year-long project with a government agency to showcase the capabilities of its USV (uncrewed surface vessel) DataXplorer, which involved 28 deployments of its tech.
- Greentown alum FluxWorks, which creates frictionless magnetic gears, opened a 9,000-square-foot facility in Conroe, TX.
