Funding
- Phytoform Labs raised a $5.7M funding round.
- Bodhi announced a $4M seed round, led by Clean Energy Ventures.
- Blackburn Energy closed its Series A round, led by Toyota Tsusho America.
- INOVUES, a participant in the Greentown Launch InNOVAte 2019 Challenge with Saint-Gobain, raised $2.75M from leading investors, including Saint-Gobain NOVA and our corporate member VC Fuel.
- Radical Plastics received a $650K Phase II SBIR grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
- Infinite Cooling received a $100K Phase I SBIR grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Green Building Program.
- Greentown alums CalWave Power Technologies and Littoral Power Systems received $7.5M and $3.98M, respectively, from the Department of Energy for wave energy research projects.
- CarbonQuest, a participant in Year 1 of the Carbon to Value Initiative, won a $350K grant from the Washington Department of Commerce.
Deployments + Partnerships
- AmpUp launched AmpUp Fleet Manager, its charging solution for EV fleets. The startup is bringing EV charging to Encore Boston Harbor and Wynn Las Vegas and to three Citizens Bank locations.
- LineVision‘s tech will be deployed to monitor New York Power Authority’s 230-kV transmission lines in Franklin and Clinton counties.
- CeraPhi Energy announced a joint venture with UK Oil & Gas PLC to develop part of UK Oil and Gas’s Horse Hill site near Gatwick Airport into a green geothermal energy hub. The startup is also collaborating with Climate Change Ventures for the development of green hydrogen using baseload geothermal as the primary energy source for continual electrolysis from its proprietary Closed Loop CeraPhiWell™ system.
- Dexai Robotics’ robot is serving food at California’s Travis Air Force Base through a contract with the Defense Logistics Agency.
- Topl is collaborating with PublicHabit and Mercado Labs to make fashion more sustainable.
- Micronic Technologies commissioned its first Tornadic One Pass pre-production unit.
- SparkCharge‘s mobile EV charging service, Currently, has completed more than 1,500 charging deliveries in its first six months of operation.
- Spare-it, which is headquartered in Somerville, MA and expanded to Hong Kong in 2021, is expanding to New York City.
- Our alum Bevi rolled out a brand-new water dispenser.
- ClearTrace and its carbon accounting platform have been selected by Iron Mountain to supply hourly energy and carbon analysis for all of its data centers across the United States. The startup is also working with NextEra Energy Resources and JPMorgan Chase to help JPMorgan track its progress on its sustainability goals.
- Carbon to Value Initiative Year 1 participant Patch is helping with the carbon offsetting of offsetmy.flights and has announced a partnership with BeZero Carbon.
- Greentown alum CalWave Technologies has been doing field trials with the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and DOE Water Power Technologies Office’s Triton initiative.
- Energy Toolbase deployed its Acumen EMS controls on an energy storage project with BYD.
- OhmConnect launched its service in Texas.
Acquisitions
- Greentown member Heila Technologies, which simplifies the integration and operation of distributed energy resources and microgrids, has been acquired by Kohler Co.
- Greentown member Dandelion Energy, which is focused on geothermal installation, acquired Glacier Drilling.
