As we look back on our first year, we’re excited to spotlight some of our members’ biggest accomplishments. Join us on April 21 to celebrate these startups, Greentown Houston’s first year, and the regional climatetech ecosystem!
- Cemvita Factory raised a Series A that brought its total fundraising to over $10M—including from Greentown partners Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Sumitomo Corporation of Americas—and then raised another $5M from United Airlines. It also opened a biofoundry in Denver and launched the Gold Hydrogen Program for subsurface biomanufacturing of hydrogen.
- CeraPhi Energy unveiled its GreenFlash service with RenewaBit, Inc. that retrofits oil and gas wells to produce 100 percent clean geothermal energy; entered a joint development agreement to develop part of UK Oil and Gas’s Horse Hill site into a green geothermal energy hub; and announced an agreement to repurpose oil and gas wells in IGas Energy’s portfolio for geothermal energy use.
- Bodhi announced a $4M seed round, led by Clean Energy Ventures.
- Topl partnered with Fueltrax to create a full, complete, and verifiable digital record of energy trading operations, and partnered with Data Gumbo to create a way for corporations to track and report their ESG metrics. The startup is also working with PublicHabit and Mercado Labs to redesign the fashion supply chain, making it shorter, greener, and more ethical.
- OhmConnect teamed up with the California State Parks Foundation to help Californians reduce energy consumption and prevent blackouts.
- ClearTrace announced a collaboration with EDF and JPMorgan Chase to ensure that 100 percent of the electricity consumed by JPMorgan Chase’s UK offices operations are matched in real-time with renewable energy and is working with JP Morgan Chase and NextEra Energy Resources to help JPMorgan track its progress on its sustainability goals. The startup was also selected by Iron Mountain to supply hourly energy and carbon analysis for all of its data centers across the United States.
- Criterion Energy Partners received a strategic investment from Patterson-UTI.
- Moonflower Farms was a winner of the EPA’s national Food Recovery Challenge Award for its work to prevent food waste and build sustainable city farms.
- Energy Toolbase announced a platform integration with Greentown partner Enel X North America and launched a new software monitoring platform. It also commissioned a behind-the-meter energy storage project with HES Solar; deployed its Acumen EMS controls on an energy storage project with BYD; integrated with Socomec to enable solar and energy storage developers to seamlessly model, control, and monitor energy storage projects; and deployed its tech at a Tennessee manufacturing plant and a California distribution facility.
- Wootz secured seed round funding from Kureha for its high-performance, aligned carbon nanotube fibers.
- Eugenie.ai announced a strategic partnership with Earth5R.
