Somerville, Mass., March 24, 2015 – David Cash, PhD., who most recently served as Commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) has joined the Advisory Board for Greentown Labs. Cash’s experience working with public policy will prove a great asset to Greentown Labs companies, as they bring innovative products to a growing clean energy market.

The appointment of Cash to the board comes as Greentown Labs grows its reach by building partnerships with industry and strategic partners. This is an effort to extend the organization’s reach globally.

“David brings the right mix of experience and insight to our Advisory Board,” said Emily Reichert, CEO of Greentown Labs. “David will provide strategic insights in government and policy that will complement Greentown’s expertise in technology innovation, market development, and cleantech investment to solve the world’s biggest energy problems.”

In addition to his work with Greentown Labs, Cash is a Senior Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and is affiliated with the Harvard Center for the Environment.

“As the largest cleantech incubator in the country, Greentown Labs is poised to make a major impact on the battle with climate change,” said Cash. “I want to help the member companies achieve their individual goals as well as help Greentown Labs achieve its broader mission, not just in Massachusetts, but around the globe.”

Prior to joining the MassDEP, Cash served as Commissioner at the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities (DPU) where he helped lead efforts to modernize the power grid, expand the deployment of energy efficiency and renewable energy and help customers have choices in their energy decisions. He has also served as Undersecretary for Policy in the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA), and helped create clean energy legislation and implementation in the first term of the Patrick Administration.
