Focusing on Sustainability: Zero Waste

Everyone loves a party, right?Compost

We think so! And last week we discovered everyone particularly enjoys a zero-waste party, too.

In the first installment of our Sustainability Campaign, Greentown Labs hosted its first-ever Zero Waste EnergyBar! Our member companies are developing products and technologies to solve the world’s greatest energy and environmental challenges. With this in mind, we felt it was only fitting to also deepen our community’s efforts in reducing our collective carbon footprint.

To do so, last night we implemented multiple measures to help us meet our zero-waste goal. These included:

  • Utilizing reduced, recyclable or reusable food packaging
  • Composting + compostable plates, cups, utensils and napkins
  • Reducing our paper usage through an electronic registration and reusable name tags
  • Using only sustainable cleaning products
  • Going meat-free with our catering selections
  • And others!

We also encouraged all attendees to take advantage of sustainable transportation options and those who did were entered into a raffle for some sweet Greentown Labs swag. Congratulations to Sam Nigh (left) and Ed Lovelace (right) for winning and thank you for choosing alternative transportation!

Sustainability winners!
PS – Special shout-out to Ed for bringing his OWN glass! Talk about sustainability! 😉 He may be onto something here…

During EnergyBar! we announced our newest, largest and most-comprehensive partner to date: DSM! We’re proud to have them join our community; learn more about the news here.

Stay tuned for the next segment of our Sustainability Campaign!
