Offshore Wind Challenge Final Showcase
February 24, 2021 @ 5:00 pm - 6:15 pm EST
FreeThe burgeoning offshore wind industry holds huge opportunities—the generation potential off the United States’ East Coast alone could power the entire country—but developers need to safely build around the movements and needs of marine life, which requires detection, data, monitoring, and real-time decisions. That’s where the Offshore Wind Challenge—in partnership with Vineyard Wind and supported by the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center—comes in.
On Wednesday, Feb. 24, join us to virtually celebrate the culmination of the Offshore Wind Challenge—a corporate partnerships accelerator program that has supported three innovative startups focused on advancing marine mammal monitoring, specifically via offshore data collection, transmission, and analysis. Attendees will hear the Offshore Wind Challenge participants speak about their technologies, what they have learned and accomplished over the past six months, and where they are headed next.
Learn about the startups below!
- SICdrone builds offshore-capable aerial drone systems that can fly in harsh weather conditions, eliminating weather delays for critical inspection and monitoring at sea.
- Night Vision Technology Solutions is a high-technology provider of thermal and visible camera systems designed for offshore wind, search and rescue, threat detection, and situational awareness.
- Open Ocean Robotics makes it cheaper, easier, and safer to understand our oceans using solar-powered, self-driving boats that travel oceans for months at a time while collecting ocean data. You can view photos from Open Ocean Robotics’ recent field tests here!
