Technology development leader will provide support to community of cleantech startups
Cooper Perkins, Inc., an industry leading engineering firm, has become the newest Gigawatt Sponsor of Greentown Labs, the nation’s largest cleantech incubator. The sponsorship will facilitate strong connections between Cooper Perkins and Greentown Labs’ entrepreneurs, enabling opportunities for collaboration, partnership and the advancement of clean technology innovation.
“Ultimately, we at Cooper Perkins are collectors of great stories and when we see one, we want to be part of it,” said Cooper Perkins CEO and co-founder Gerhard Pawelka. “This is what initially attracted our team to the Greentown Labs community and we look forward to further collaboration as they shape the future.” As part of their sponsorship, Cooper Perkins’ team will provide engineering consulting services to Greentown Labs member companies, a resource with which all technical and hardware-focused startups can benefit.
“Greentown Labs is proud to be home to more than 50 energy and clean technology startups that are all working on highly technical products and we deeply value the guidance Cooper Perkins will provide them as they iterate on their prototypes,” said Greentown Labs CEO, Dr. Emily Reichert. “We’re excited to welcome Cooper Perkins to our strong network of partners and sponsors, and we’re eager to see how they collaborate with our member companies!”
In fact, these collaborative relationships are already underway. A team of engineers from Cooper Perkins is working with Greentown Labs’ member company AquaFresco as they improve efficiencies in commercial and residential laundry operations. By combining Cooper Perkins’ unique alchemy of interdisciplinary capabilities with AquaFresco’s foundational innovations, the design partnership maximizes the impact of its success.
Greentown Labs offers 33,000 sq. ft. of prototyping lab and office space, a shared machine shop, and an electronics shop to its startups. Members of Greentown Labs are immersed in a network of more than 45 local, national and international cleantech resources. The incubator is doubling the size of its headquarters in Somerville, MA, and in the fall of 2017 it will open its Global Center for Cleantech Innovation, providing an additional 58,000 sq. ft. of prototyping, office and event space for 50 additional startups.
