Celebrating the Interns of Greentown Labs

Last week, Greentown Labs celebrated a special group within its community that’s sometimes–unintentionally–overlooked: our interns. Many of our startups rely on the support, commitment and hardwork of their interns. While many of our interns are from local universities, some travel from as far as Canada to contribute to clean energy projects and assist innovative companies. Most cash-strapped startups need to devote their time and effort to high-level strategies and lack the capital for full-time employees which is understandable, so the value interns provide is incredible. 

To honor their hard work and contributions, Greentown Labs threw an “Intern’s Only Event” last week. Many of our interns came together to enjoy wood-fired pizza and candlepin bowling from one of our local favorites in Somerville: Flatbread Company. Y-U-M. The famous Sacco’s Bowling Haven has been in operation since 1939 and still maintains its unique and old school atmosphere. It made for a great atmosphere to share experiences and impressions of the Greentown Labs community.

NicoleThis is Nicole Mulready, a fourth year mechanical engineering major at Northeastern University. She is the Mechanical Engineering Intern for NBD Nanotechnologies.

Meet Lilyn Gao, an electrical engineering Intern at Altaeros Energies, attends the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada.

 

EmilyEmily Daniels, a mechanical engineering student at Northeastern University, is interning at Loci Controls.

 

CarmenThis is Carmen Azzaretti, an intern at Altaeros Energies, who attends the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York.
