SUMMARY:2023 MIT Climate & Energy Prize: US Semi-Final
DESCRIPTION:Join us to hear from and network with student-led climate startups!\n\n\n\nThe MIT Climate & Energy Prize competition seeks to move the world closer to net zero carbon emissions by empowering ambitious entrepreneurs to solve the world’s most difficult climate-related challenges. \n\n\n\nIt is the largest and longest-running competition for student-led climate startups in the world. Since its founding in 2007\, the MIT Climate & Energy Prize has received more than 750 applications\, offered world-class mentoring to over 260 teams\, and granted more than $3.3M in non-dilutive cash prizes. Teams compete for $100\,000+ in prize money and have access to mentoring and other resources. Over 220 MIT Climate & Energy Prize companies have successfully launched and raised $1.7+ billion in follow-on funding. \n\n\n\nDuring the semifinal round\, teams of student entrepreneurs will present their business plans and prototypes to a panel of judges\, who will then evaluate the teams based on criteria such as the potential impact of their solution\, the feasibility of their business model\, and the strength of their team. The semifinal round is an opportunity for the teams to receive feedback and guidance from experienced industry leaders and to compete for a chance to advance to the final in April. \n\n\n\nRegister now \n\n\n\nClick here to register! \n\n\n\nPlease note that by registering to attend this event you are accepting these terms: You acknowledge that alcohol will be served and all attendees are subject to be ID’ed (only those 21+ will be served); You consent to your image or likeness being used in content associated with the event; You release Greentown Labs and all partners from any and all liability stemming from any event-related incident. \n\n\n\nQuestions? SUMMARY:NECEC Emerging Trends Series: Deploying Climate Solutions
DESCRIPTION:Connecting City Leaders & Entrepreneurs\n\n\n\nMay 18 | Somerville\, MA \n\n\n\n\n\nCities are ground zero in the fight against climate change. They consume more than 78 percent of the world’s energy and produce more than 60 percent of greenhouse gas emissions. \n\n\n\nThese statistics present a tremendous challenge but also an enormous opportunity to deploy the solutions necessary to achieve our climate goals. \n\n\n\nBoston (home to NECEC and Greentown Labs) and New York (a city NECEC works closely with) are two of the cities ranked most “at risk” for climate change by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development. To mitigate this risk\, these cities are making real commitments and taking significant action toward creating a just and equitable clean energy future while also building a diverse climate economy for their residents. Additionally\, the Northeast proudly fosters a robust community of climatetech disruptors who are creating solutions that cities and towns can deploy to reduce their carbon footprint\, save their residents money\, and improve their quality of life. \n\n\n\nAnd while these solutions are being created in Boston\, New York\, and across the Northeast\, city leaders and technology innovators often don’t know each other or know how to engage one another. Cities frequently lack the resources and expertise to identify\, vet\, and purchase the latest technologies; while entrepreneurs have difficulty finding places to pilot and deploy their solutions. \n\n\n\nIn this Emerging Trend Series\, NECEC and Greentown Labs are coming together to unite city leaders and entrepreneurs on the same stage to learn from each other and explore how they can work together to accelerate our transition to a just and equitable clean energy future and diverse climate economy. We’ll discuss the challenges cities face in reaching their climate goals\, how entrepreneurs can best connect with cities given public procurement laws\, and examples of solutions that are ready to deploy in cities. \n\n\n\nLearn more and register for the event here. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAgenda\n\n\n\n10:00 – Welcoming Remarks – Joe Curtatone\, President\, NECEC10:08 – Opening Remarks – H.G.
