SUMMARY:ACCEL Year 3 Kickoff Event
DESCRIPTION:Kick off Year 3 of our accelerator program for BIPOC-led startups!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n REGISTER HERE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin us to celebrate the kickoff of Year 3 of ACCEL\, an accelerator program from Greentown Labs and Browning the Green Space (BGS) designed to support BIPOC-led climatetech startups. At this event\, hear from innovative startups that are developing climate solutions for sectors including agriculture\, buildings\, electricity\, manufacturing\, resilience and adaptation\, and transportation.  \n\n\n\nThe third iteration of ACCEL follows two successful program years. The Year 2 cohort featured seven startups working on innovations as diverse as yeast-centered water treatment\, vertical-axis offshore wind turbines\, and algae- and cellulose-based fashion beads. Their accomplishments during the accelerator included conducting successful pilots\, earning acceptances into additional accelerators\, securing capital\, winning awards\, and more. \n\n\n\nTake this opportunity to network\, celebrate\, and build community around this incredible program and meet the eight startups in the Year 3 cohort!  \n\n\n\n\nAndros Innovations (Cambridge\, MA) has developed a revolutionary reactor that produces ammonia more cheaply\, cleanly\, and safely than traditional methods do. Its founder is Laron Burrows.\n\n\n\nCarbonext (Houston\, TX) is leveraging a proprietary\, off-the-shelf 3D-graphene technology to develop integrated solutions with carbon-coated silicon anodes to address current challenges in the graphite ecosystem\, as well as lithium-battery anodes. Its founder is Olanrewaju Tanimola.\n\n\n\nFAST Metals (Worcester\, MA) has developed a hydrometallurgical-recovery process capable of extracting iron\, aluminum\, scandium\, titanium\, and other rare-earth elements from industrial tailings such as bauxite residue—also known as red mud—which is produced as a waste byproduct in the primary extraction of aluminum. Its founders are Sumedh Gostu and Anthony Staley. \n\n\n\nInductive Robotics (Austin\, TX) deploys autonomous robots that deliver EV charging directly to parked vehicles in commercial parking facilities\, using a subscription-based model. Its founders are Madhav Ayyagari and David Alspaugh.\n\n\n\nPLASENE (Houston\, TX) offers an innovative platform that converts plastic waste into liquid fuel and low-carbon hydrogen by leveraging proprietary catalysts and modular\, scalable\, pre-engineered units. Its founders are Sohel Shaikh\, Alper Gulludag\, and Romolo Raciti. \n\n\n\nRespire Energy (Boston\, MA) is redefining energy storage with a safe\, low-cost\, and long-duration metal-air battery designed for microgrids. Built with non-flammable and earth-abundant materials\, it delivers eight-plus hours of reliable energy storage and backup power. Its founders are Dave Hsu\, Xiaowei Teng\, and Candy Wong.\n\n\n\nTato Labs (Brooklyn\, NY) is developing scalable\, innovative\, bioplastic products and packaging solutions that leverage potato starch\, protect and preserve the natural ecosystem\, and minimize plastic waste. Its founder is Mecca McDonald.\n\n\n\nThola (Portland\, ME) provides an on-demand marketplace for commercial-building sustainability and safety management\, with a mission to decarbonize old buildings. Its founders are Nneile Nkholise and Lerato Takana.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWant to engage with the cohort throughout the accelerator? We welcome conversation on how you can support! SUMMARY:Building Energy Infrastructure: Lessons from the Big Dig & Where We Go From Here
DESCRIPTION:Join Advanced Energy United & other experts for a discussion on how we successfully build the energy infrastructure needed to achieve 100% clean energy across the U.S. \n\n\n\nInspired by the successful GBH podcast\, The Big Dig by Ian Coss\, Advanced Energy United’s event\, Building Energy Infrastructure: Lessons from the Big Dig & Where We Go from Here\, will include a set of conversations aimed at the question of how we successfully build the energy infrastructure our industry requires if we are going to achieve 100% clean energy across the U.S. \n\n\n\nThe event will open with a fireside discussion between Ian Coss and our moderator\, Laura Bartsch\, drawing upon key themes raised in the podcast and looking at the intersection with the challenges facing the clean energy industry today. \n\n\n\nThe conversation will then open up to a full panel discussion including key leaders who are currently working to “pave the path” toward a clean energy future: Maria Robinson\, Director\, Grid Deployment Office\, US Department of Energy; Rebecca Tepper\, Secretary\, Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs; Joe Curtatone\, President\, Northeast Clean Energy Council; and Jeremy McDiarmid\, Managing Director and General Counsel\, Advanced Energy United. Each of the panelists brings the perspective not only of their current role\, but also from their broader relevant experiences in previous roles including as state legislator\, mayor\, architect\, and energy counsels (in multiple capacities). \n\n\n\nWe’re looking forward to hosting a lively and interactive discussion and will end the program with a brief question-and-answer opportunity for the in-person audience. \n\n\n\nWe encourage attendees to join us at the event live and in person at Greentown Labs (Somerville\, MA). Not local? Plan to join us virtually for this important conversation via Zoom. The livestream link will be provided to registered attendees the day before the event and will begin at 2:00 pm ET. \n\n\n\nAgenda\n\n\n\nTo view the entire event program\, please click here. \n\n\n\nRegister Now\n\n\n\nLearn more and register here. \n\n\n\nVenue Information \n\n\n\nParking is incredibly limited at Greentown Labs and we encourage attendees to consider taking advantage of public transportation. SUMMARY:Transition-AI: Boston
DESCRIPTION:Post Script presents: a gathering of experts to help chart a path forward with AI in the energy transition\n\n\n\nClick here to purchase tickets and to see the agenda and speakers. Friends of Greentown receive 20% off with code GTL20! \n\n\n\nSuddenly\, artificial intelligence is everywhere. Business leaders across the energy sector are trying to figure out what it means for technology adoption\, competition\, and the way they run their companies. \n\n\n\nPost Script Media’s inaugural conference\, Transition-AI: Boston\, brings together experts and executives from across the energy and innovation space to discuss where AI is already proving its value in use cases for electric utilities\, renewable energy optimization\, EV charging solutions\, and virtual power plants\, while promising critical new capabilities to further evolve the flexibility and efficiency of our electricity system. \n\n\n\nOne of the central pillars of our transition to a net-zero economy is “electrifying everything\,” from energy generation\, to transportation\, heating and cooling\, heavy industry\, even the cooktops in our homes.
