SUMMARY:MIT Energy Conference
DESCRIPTION:The MIT Energy Conference Team is thrilled to extend an invitation to the 2024 MIT Energy Conference: “Short and Long: A Balanced Approach to the Energy Transition\,” taking place on March 11 and 12 at The Westin Copley Place\, Boston. Join us for two exciting days of deep insights from expert speakers and panels\, witnessing cutting-edge developments at our Tech Showcase\, and connecting with brilliant attendees from government\, industry\, academia\, VC\, and more! \n\n\n\nWe plan to dive deep into nuanced discussions surrounding how to distribute resources between currently available energy solutions\, where R&D is still required to reach sustainability goals\, and what impact and tradeoffs policies have on the transition. From assessing the opportunities and challenges of scaling next-generation geothermal and nuclear systems for baseline power\, identifying and exploring the intersections of energy and critical resources\, navigating the evolving capital and skilled labor needs for the burgeoning sustainable technology sector\, and assessing and learning from the impact of policy decisions\, attendees will receive newfound insights into immediate and longer-term considerations for the energy transition. \n\n\n\nThree of our confirmed keynotes for this year’s conference include: \n\n\n\nKatie Rae\, CEO & Managing Partner of Engine Ventures. She serves as a Board Member of multiple of The Engine Ventures’ portfolio companies\, including Commonwealth Fusion Systems and Boston Metal. A seasoned investor and tech executive\, Rae has invested in about 100 companies – including Pillpack and Flywire – served as an advisor to hundreds of founders\, and co-founded the Equity Summit. \n\n\n\nDaniel Kammen\, James and Katherine Lau Distinguished Professor of Sustainability at the University of California\, Berkeley. Kammen was the First Chief Technical Specialist for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency at the World Bank. He has served as a contributing or coordinating lead author on various reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) since 1999\, including the 2007 IPCC that shared the Nobel Peace Prize. \n\n\n\nYet-Ming Chiang\, Kyocera Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at MIT. Professor Chiang is an elected member of the National Academy of Engineering\, a recipient of the World Economic Forum’s Pioneer Award\, and a member of The Times 100 Climate list. He has co-founded multiple companies in the energy and climate space\, including Form Energy and Sublime Systems. \n\n\n\nAdditionally\, you do not want to miss out on our Tech Showcase event\, where entrepreneurs and innovators come together to show-off the latest and greatest in climate-tech development. \n\n\n\nVisit our website and social media accounts to stay informed on speaker announcements\, potential discounts\, and agenda updates. \n\n\n\nAnd for a limited amount of time\, we have an Early-Bird discount offering about 30% off on your conference ticket purchase! These discounted tickets have nearly sold out\, so buy them while they are available at the following link: \n\n\n\nCONFERENCE TICKET LINK \n\n\n\nWe look forward to seeing you this March! \n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\n2024 MIT Energy Conference \n\n\n\nhttp://mitenergyconference.org
